The Gala Castle in Púbol opens again on 13 March, and it shows a new temporary exhibition entitled Les Chantes de Maldoror, which can be seen until 31 December 2010. The inauguration on 12 March was presided over by the Catalan Minister of Territorial Policy, Mr. Joaquim Nadal. On behalf of the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí, by its president, Ramon Boixadós, its director of the Centre for Dalinian Studies, Montse Aguer, and by the exhibition's curator, Juliette Murphy, specialist in graphic work.

The Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí presented the loan of the work Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pommegranate One Minute Before Awakening (1944), from the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum (Madrid). The oil painting will be exhibited at the Drawings Room (number 6) of the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres from 9 February until 2 May 2010.

The house-museum Salvador Dalí in Portlligat opened on 9 February, earlier than in previous seasons, so as to fit the demand of visitors. The architectonic idiosincracy of the house admits visitors in limited groups, with previous booking.We remind you that the Olive Grove can also be visited, where you will see the installation of the Crist of the Rubbish Tip or The Pots Tour, with a panoramic view over the bay.

The Castle Gala Dalí in Púbol opens next 13 March and will show a new temporary exhibition which is the result of the research done by the Conservation and Restauration Dept. of the Dalí Foundation. Information will be duly provided.

The Foundation has presented a work painted on both sides titled Nymphs and Young Ladies in a Garden Fountain from circa 1921 and a portrait of his sister Anna Maria on the other side: Figure from Behind, painted in 1925.

The painting is exhibited at the Fishmongers Room, in the Dalí Theatre-Museum of Figueres, in an installation specially designed to show both sides of the work.

Commissioned by the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí, Barcelona Multimedia produced the first art game for iPhone/iPod Touch in Europe, distributed for free in AppStore.

The oil painting which inspired this game is The Persistence of Memory, known as “The Soft Watches”, by Salvador Dalí. It belongs to the MoMA collection and was on temporary loan at the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres from January to March 2009. The game was produced with the assessment of the Centre for Dalinian Studies and the Educational Service of the Dalí Foundation.

Púbol: THE SURREALIST PIANO

From 20 August to 30 September, the last acquisition of work will be exhibited in the Púbol Castle. The Surrealist Piano is a drawing done from 1937 to illustrate a film that was projected by Dalí together with the Marx Brothers.

Portlligat: THE POTS TOUR

On 4 August, a new space was incorporated to the visit of the Salvador Dalí house in Portlligat. A round building placed in the olive grove the artist used as a secondary workshop. It had been the setting of many artistic actions, with transparent glass skylights to paint the models' feet such as those in The Wind Palace (Noble Room, Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres), as well as some mechanisms for blowing up balloons in the ceiling, and with pieces of fired clay with holes and embedded into the outer wall in such a way as to produce an echo when the tramuntana or the mestral winds blew strongly.

The Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí presented on July two oil paintings by the artist it recently acquired, which can be seen at the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres. They add attraction to the Night visit that takes place in August.

One is entitled Bathers of Es Llaner of 1923, which comes from a private collection and is exhibited in the Fishmongers Room. The second one, Gala, from 1931, was bought in Sotheby's New York and is now on show at the Drawings Room in an installation by the designer Pep Canaleta.

The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) in Melbourne is holding the exhibition Salvador Dalí: Liquid Desire, which can be seen from 13 June to 4 October 2009. The official ceremonies will be held on Thursday, 11 June, with a press conference in the morning presided over by the Premier of the State of Victoria, John Brumby, followed in the afternoon by the official inauguration of the exhibition by the Minister of Culture of Victoria, Lynne Kosky. Both events will be attended by the Chairman of the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation, Ramon Boixadós, the Director of the Centre for Dalinian Studies, Montse Aguer, and the Managing Director, Joan Manuel Sevillano.

The Catalan Jazz Festival of the Baix Empordà region is held in three different places, one of which is the Gala Dalí Castle in Púbol. The concert by Biel Ballester Trio on 20 June sold out its tickets. Next and last one is Llibert Fortuny with Gary Willis and David Gómez on Saturday 27 June at Plaça Major in La Pera village.

The Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation presented its Annual Report corresponding to year 2008. The Foundation also showed the media the very last acquisition, three drawings for 50 Secrets of Magic Craftsmanship.
