Miquel Roca, new Life Patron of the Dalí Foundation

The Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí named Mr. Miquel Roca life patron. The lawyer replaces Mr. Francesc Vergés, who passed away last 9 July. Mr. Vergés was once General Secretary of the Dalí Foundation and used to be Member of the Board of Trustees since its creation in 1983.

The naming took place on 10 October, during the celebration of the extraordinary session, in which the 2012 Budget and Action Programme is approved.

Dalí exhibition in Moscow

A retrospective on Salvador Dalí will be held at the State Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow, Russia, from 3 September until 13 November 2011.

 

Coinciding with the Dual Year Spain-Russia, the Dalí Foundation will open this exhibition, entitled Salvador Dalí: a retrospective, at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts next 2 September.It is the mayor retrospective ever celebrated in this country with original works.

The opening events will take place next 2 September and will be presided over by the Russian Minister of Culture, Aleksandr Avdeev, the Spanish Ambassador, Mr. Luis Felipe Fernández de la Peña, as well as Irina Antonova, director of the Pushkin Museum, and Joan M. Sevillano, Managing Director of the Dalí Foundation.

The Acústica Festival presented on 10 June at the Dalí Theatre-Museum the special production that is to commemorate its 10th anniversary. The event was led by journalist Manel Fuentes, while Montse Aguer, Director of the Centre for Dalinian Studies, the Directors of the show, Xavi Pascual and Pep Blay, and various other personalities also took part. A performance by the singer Gerard Quintana brought the celebration to a close.


The show is called SALVADOR DALÍ SINGS and will be staged on 2 and 3 September in the Gala Dalí Square in Figueres. The show will include performances by Albert Pla, Pau Riba, Gerard Quintana, Dolo Beltrán, Love of Lesbian, Estrella Morente, Amaral, Ana Torroja, Martirio, Kiko Veneno, Enric Casasses and Sol Picó, who will “dance” the voice of Dalí. The Pascal Comelade band will be playing the music live. The singers will perform texts by Salvador Dalí ceded by the artist’s Foundation. The show will be rounded off with videos of Amanda Lear and Alice Cooper.

 

The audience will be limited to 600 persons for each of the days, 2 and 3 September, and tickets are now on sale from ServiCaixa (ATM terminals and website).

Legal victory for the Fundació Dalí

The High Court of Paris has upheld the claims of the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí and acknowledges that the Spanish State is the sole holder of the resale right on the works of Salvador Dalí and the Fundació Dalí as its beneficiary.

 

The Fundació Dalí is very glad to announce this legal victory because it does not  only represent a step forward in the defence and protection of Salvador Dalí rights, but it also establishes jurisprudence.

The most expensive painting ever purchased by the Foundation

The Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí presented the latest work acquired, an oil-on-panel work from 1934 entitled Enigmatic Elements in a Landscape. The Foundation paid 11 million dollars (7.8 million Euros). The presentation event was conducted by Antoni Pitxot, Director of the Dalí Theatre-Museum, and Montse Aguer, Director of the Centre for Dalinian Studies.

The Dalí Foundation's aim is to maintain the Figueres Museum’s status as an essential place for understanding the pictorial evolution, thought and life of Salvador Dalí.

The fifth edition of the JazzPera Festival will again be held in three different  places, one being the Gala Castle in Púbol,  like in previous years. The concert will be offered on 12 June 2011, by Névoa (voice) and Vicenç Solsona (guitar), and will start at 10 pm. in the Castle's gardens.

The Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation presented the third part of the Catalogue Raisonné of Paintings by Salvador Dalí, which includes 136 paintings from 1940 until 1951.

Special Opening Hours in Easter Time
Special Opening Hours in Easter Time

The Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres will be open from 9 am. to 7:15 pm. on Friday 22, Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 April, as a special opening to attend the demand during Easter time.

 

We remind you that on Mondays 25 April and 2 May, the museum will be open according to the regular time table, from 9:30 am to 5:15 pm.

Presentation of the latest acquisition of Salvador Dalí work
On 11th april at eleven o’clock  in the Loggias Room at the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres, the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí presented its latest acquisition of work by the artist, an oil-on-wood painting entitled Study for “Honey is Sweeter than Blood. The presentation was given by Antoni Pitxot, Director of the Dalí Theatre-Museum, and Montse Aguer, Director of the Centre for Dalinian Studies.
 
The work will be exhibited in the Treasure Room of the Theatre-Museum from Tuesday 12 April 2011.
