On Friday 2nd of July, Jimmy Carter and some members of his family visited the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres, accompanied by Ramon Boixadós, President of the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí and Montse Aguer, Director of the Centre of Dalinian Studies.

After their visit of one hour and a half, the former President of the United States told that he was more impressed than what he expected, and that he considers himself a great admirer of Salvador Dalí.

Eleanor Morse passed away on 1st July. She was 97 years old. Together with her husband, Reynolds Morse, founded the Salvador Dalí Museum in Saint Petersburg (Florida) in 1982. They donated to the museum their huge collection of Salvador Dalí works, becoming the point of reference in America. It is the most important private collection of Dalí works in the world. Reynolds Morse had passed away in 2000 at the age of 85.

The JazzPera Festival 2010 will be held in three different places, one of which being the Gala Dalí Castle in Púbol, like in previous years. The concert will be offered by Mmm...Cole Porter, a group composed of Clara Luna (singer), José Alberto Medina (piano), Rai Ferrer (bass) and Xavi Maureta (drums). It will start at 10 p.m. in the Castle's gardens.

The Managing Director of the Dalí Foundation, Joan Manuel Sevillano Campalans, participated in the Second Seminar of Art and Law, organised by the Barcelona Bar Association (ICAB) last 18 June.

The Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí presented to the media the drawings, manuscripts and photographs (some not shown previously) it had acquired over the last two years. This documentation forms part of the collection of the Centre for Dalinian Studies and serves for undertaking more thorough studies on the artistic path and life of Salvador Dalí, researched at internal level.

The objective of the Foundation’s acquisitions policy is to ensure that the Figueres museum remains an essential element for understanding the pictorial evolution, life and thought of Salvador Dalí.

The Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí presented its Annual Report corresponding to year 2009. Download the publication in its bilingual version Spanish/Catalan, soon to appear in English/French.

The Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres will be open from 9 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. on 2, 3 and 4 April, as a special opening to attend the demand during Easter time.

We remind that Monday 5 April the museum is open because it is a bank holiday. That day and the following, the museum will be open according to the regular time table.

The Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí inaugurated at the Gala Dalí Castle in Púbol this year’s temporary exhibition, under the title Les Chants de Maldoror. The exhibition can be seen from 13 March, the day the Castle re-opened to the public (to remain open now for the rest of the year, until 31 December 2010).

The work Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pommegranate One Minute Before Awakening (1944), also known as "The Tigers", coming from the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum (Madrid) was exhibited from 9th February until 2nd May, at the Drawings Room (number 6) of the Dalí Theatre-Museum, in Figueres.

The Castle Gala Dalí in Púbol opens next 13 March. The house Salvador Dalí in Portlligat opened last 9 February.

The house-museum Salvador Dalí in Portlligat opened on 9 February, earlier than in previous seasons, so as to fit the demand of visitors. The architectonic idiosincracy of the house admits visitors in limited groups, with previous booking.We remind you that the Olive Grove can also be visited, where you will see the installation of the Crist of the Rubbish Tip or The Pots Tour, with a panoramic view over the bay.

The Castle Gala Dalí in Púbol opens next 13 March and will show a new temporary exhibition which is the result of the research done by the Conservation and Restauration Dept. of the Dalí Foundation. Information will be duly provided.
