MUSIC AT THE GALA DALÍ CASTLE IN PÚBOL. Year 2001

31 July 2001, 10.30 PM

Gardens of the Gala Dalí Castle in Púbol

On Tuesday 31 July, at 10.30 p.m., the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation will be presenting in the Gardens of the Gala Dalí Castle in Púbol the inaugural concert of Music at the Gala Dalí Castle in Púbol, with the first performance of the work Surrealisme by the Valencian composer Josep Vicent. Surrealisme will be performed by the percussionist Josep Vicent, Jos Zwanenburg at the flute and electronics, and Paul Power, sound engineer.

Taking as their point of departure the reading of a text of surrealistic nature by the performes themselves, written with techniques such as automatic writing, the two artists will then succeed one another in creating a sound space which will consist in a review of the various aesthetic currents that have arisen in the course of the 20th century: minimalism, impressionism, automatism, serialism, and so forth. All this will nevertheless converge upon a point in which the dialogue will cease to be a dialogue and will become a monologue emerging from the sum of the musicians.

This concert is organised by the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation, and sponsored by La Caixa, Prosegur, AON Gil y Carvajal, Costa Brava - Blau Verd Hotels and Distribucions d'Art Surrealista.
