Portlligat: Casa-Museu Salvador Dalí Print

The present Portlligat House-museum was Salvador Dalí’s only fixed abode from 1930, the place in which he normally lived and worked up till 1982 when, upon Gala’s death, he took up residence at Púbol Castle.

Organising your journey

Here you will find information on how to reach the House-museum Salvador Dalí in Portlligat:

  • Communications (airports, roads, train, ...)
  • Car Park
  • Tourist information about Catalonia and the Costa Brava

At least two days are needed to enjoy the visits to the three Dalí Museums properly. The distance between the three Dalí Museums means that you have to allow for journeys of at least 40 Kilometres if you want to go from Figueres to Portlligat (Cadaqués) and another 40 Kilometres from Figueres to Púbol (near La Bisbal d'Empordà, heading in the Girona direction).

Conditions for entry

Important! The visit to the house-museum is undertaken in restricted-size groups (up to eight people), with entry of each group  every ten minutes from the stated opening time.

Reservations must always be made in advance to visit Salvador Dalí house in Portlligat.  That applies to all types of visitor. The reservation can be made via the website, by phoning 972 25 10 15, or by e-mail to pllgrups@fundaciodali.org

On the visit day, you must pick up your ticket 30 minutes before the hour stated. Late arrival means that you will lose the right to enter the museum and your ticket will be sold.

The road is 40 km far from Figueres to Portlligat and may take more than one hour. In summer it may even take longer because of the wavy and busy road. Bear this in mind so as to be in time to pick up your ticket half an hour before your booking.

The visit is not guided.

The visit takes about 50 minutes.

  • No animals are allowed to enter, except for guide dogs for the blind.
  • It is forbidden to touch any of the works or settings exhibited.
  • Smoking, eating and drinking in the Theatre-Museum is forbidden.
  • The Management reserves the right to refuse admission.

Left-luggage office

Rucksacks, bags, umbrellas, pushchairs or any other object that the authorised personnel consider a risk to museum security may not be brought into the museum.

Accessibility

The architectural characteristics of the Salvador Dalí House, and particularly its structure based on former fishermen's cabins with narrow and irregular steps to get to all the rooms, as well as the natural surroundings of Cap de Creus where the house is located, hinder access to the building for people with reduced mobility.

For the same reasons, it is unfortunately impossible to enter the Salvador Dalí House in a wheelchair.

Policy for filming and taking pictures

When taking pictures, you are not allowed to use the flash or any other photographic equipment. If this happens, the camera will be temporarily held back until the owner finishes the visit. Public communication of the images taken inside the Dalí museums needs an authorization and rights clearance.

Ask here for permission to film or take pictures.
