In the catalogue of the exhibition in the Bignou Gallery in New York, held from the 25th of November 1947 until the 31st of January 1948, Dalí announced that he was now 44 years old and had finally decided to start his first master works. He added that he was showing this work while it was still in progress, thus enabling those interested in his technique to study the development of his work coinciding with the publication of his book 50 Secrets of Magic Craftsmanship. We are once again before a work of mythological echoes, which interested Dalí so much. Produced according to Fra Luca Paccioli’s “Divine Proportion”, there are also references calculated by the mathematician Matila Ghyka. In contrast to what his contemporaries believed, that mathematics “distracted” from the artistic discourse, Dalí thought that any work of art with foundation had to be based on the composition, on the calculus. Of note here is that all the elements are shown weightless, suspended in air, floating.
