5th anniversary of the "Dalí and Gala" giant models
In 1999, Friends of the Dalí Museums proposed and financed the making of two of Catalonia’s traditional giant models, Dalí and Gala, which were later donated to Figueres City Council.
This year of celebrations marking the centenary of the birth of the artist also marked the fifth anniversary of the two giants, which was celebrated with a gathering of giants and the traditional shawms which brought groups from all over Catalonia together.

30th anniversary of the Dalí Theatre-Museum
On this date in 1974, the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres opened its doors.
To mark this thirtieth anniversary, and on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of the painter, Friends of the Dalí Museums wished to continue the homage to the artist with a performance of Catalonia’s traditional sardana music, the event having been held under the dome of his most emblematic work: the Theatre-Museum.
The cobla band charged with this celebration was La Principal de la Bisbal, an Empordà group with a century’s history behind it (it was formed in 1888) that has become an institution (as the Official Cobla of the Government of Catalonia), its work being acknowledged (the band was awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi) and extremely popular.
