Observations

With "Hérodiade" as a title, this painting illustrates Pierre Mabille´s article "La conscience lumineuse", published in "Minotaure", number 10, winter 1937. During World War II this work was looted by the German army occupying France and was kept in storage in the Jeu de Paume museum in Paris in the "salle des Martyrs" from 1940 to 1944.
