On the occasion of the centenary of the artist’s birth, the Gala-Salvador Dal\u00ed Foundation and Barcelona Multimedia presented three audiovisual products at the Dal\u00ed Theatre-Museum in Figueres: a DVD\/video entitled Dal\u00ed by Dal\u00ed<\/em> and two CD-ROM games called Dal\u00ed or the Fly’s Dream<\/em> and Dal\u00ed’s Games<\/em>. In a pioneering initiative in the art world, the main objective was to take fullest advantage of current audiovisual resources in order to disseminate and explain the Dalinian universe. The press conference was attended by Montse Aguer, commissioner of Dal\u00ed Year 2004 and Director of the Centre for Dalinian Studies, and Toni Matas, editor of Barcelona Multimedia.<\/p>\n

Dal\u00ed by Dal\u00ed<\/em> DVD\/video<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dal\u00ed by Dal\u00ed<\/em> is an educational DVD created for anybody who would like to be introduced to Dal\u00ed’s world and his symbology on the basis of four guiding themes: life, work, symbols and places. With over 250 high-quality, full-detail images, the DVD allows Dal\u00ed’s pictorial works to be enjoyed along with his literary texts, particularly Salvador Dal\u00ed’s Secret Life<\/em> and Diary of a Genius<\/em>. The DVD\/video Dal\u00ed by Dal\u00ed<\/em> stands as an audiovisual supplement to the Gala-Salvador Dal\u00ed Foundation’s publications for 2004: Annotated Catalogue, Complete Works and the collectors’ edition of Don Quijote de la Mancha.<\/em><\/p>\n

The CD-ROMs: Dal\u00ed or the Fly’s Dream<\/em> and Dal\u00ed’s Games<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The aim here is to show Salvador Dal\u00ed’s life and work to children and adolescents. As well as the games themselves, the two CD-ROMs include a biography of Salvador Dal\u00ed and a virtual visit to the Theatre-Museum in Figueres, the Portlligat house and P\u00fabol castle.
\nThe Gala-Salvador Dal\u00ed Foundation’s Centre for Dalinian Studies, the world’s leading authority on study of the Dalinian oeuvre, took charge of the project documentation and supervised work in order to ensure that the content would be rigorous while retaining its educational nature. At the outset the Foundation planned to produce only one video-game. However, the extraordinary diversity and complexity of the Dalinian oeuvre and the experience of the Education Department suggested a need to divide the project into two games on CD-ROM, one for younger and one for older children: Dal\u00ed’s Games<\/em> for the 7-9 age group and Dal\u00ed or the Fly’s Dream<\/em>, for boys and girls aged upwards of 10 years and adults.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
