The CED manages what was once Salvador Dalí’s personal library, which, upon the painter’s death, was moved from the house in Portlligat to the Torre Galatea in Figueres. It contained a significant number of first editions of his works as well as publications created in collaboration with other artists and authors from the Surrealist period.
From a thematic point of view, the painter’s interests in art in general are reflected. Special mention should be made of books about the Renaissance period, with Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci at the forefront, as well as Spanish classics like Velázquez and Dutch masters such as Vermeer of Delft. Philosophy and religion also constitute a significant portion, along with science and literature. There are also copies in Russian, mainly Russian literature, that belonged to Gala.
