Under the careful supervision of the head of Conservation and Restoration, who, months earlier, had travelled to verify its condition, the painting was unpacked, inspected and incorporated into our reserves.

L’arribada d’una peça única

One of the conservation and restoration team’s main tasks is to prepare reports on painting technique and the state of conservation to supplement proposals for the acquisition of a work. In this case, the conservator-restorer travelled to examine the painting in situ, check its condition and materials, and document it photographically. In such cases, photographs are taken of details, such as the signature or other significant elements, under different types of light in order to extract as much information as possible to relay to the Foundation’s curatorial and acquisitions team.

The inspection of The Birth of Liquid Anguish confirmed the use of Dalí’s technique from that period and concluded that the work was in a good and stable state of conservation.

Today, the piece is on display in the temporary exhibition rooms, waiting for you to come see it.
