Painting produced in the studio in Portlligat, although he completed it raised on enormous scaffolding and placed in his Theatre-Museum. It is a work based on the poem by Joan Maragall, “L'Empordà” that refers to the Empordá region and the Tramuntana (the northern wind). In the centre he represents himself alongside Gala, in a forced perspective so that it creates an allegorical argument of the different passages of his life. This work has something of an idyllic stroll through the dreams of life about it. At the end, it once again shows Gala and himself, contemplating the ship of destiny which is just about to set sail. We can highlight some sections of the journey: the shower of gold that falls onto the spectator as coins (Dalí used to say that one of them was real); the reference to the Lulian wheels; the elephants with insect limbs; the sketched silhouettes of the prince and princess (the current King and Queen of Spain). In the corner one can also see the silhouette of the photographer and good friend of Dalí, Melitó Casals, “Meli”.
