The Visit
Take in the dazzlingly inimitable landscape of Cap de Creus, the inspiring setting that fuelled Salvador Dalí’s creativity, from the house and studio where the artist painted some of his most iconic works.
The Salvador Dalí House Museum was Dalí’s residence for forty years, from its humble origins as a fisherman’s hut in Portlligat to its transformation into the eccentric structure we know today. Its singular spaces allow you to explore the different areas of his life, from the most private to the most public.

About Salvador Dalí House-Museum
More information
The Salvador Dalí House-Museum
The current House-Museum in Portlligat was Salvador Dalí’s only permanent residence, the place where he regularly lived and worked until, following Gala’s death in 1982, he moved to the castle in Púbol.
In 1930, Salvador Dalí settled down in a small fisherman’s hut in Portlligat, drawn by the location’s landscape, light and isolation. Over the next 40 years, he used that initial construction as the foundation to create his home. In his own words, it was ‘like a real biological structure […]. Each new impulse in our life had its own new cell, its room.’
Route and visitable areas
The house can be divided into three different areas: the area where the Dalís made their private life (Rooms 1–5 and 8–13); the studio (Rooms 6 and 7), with numerous objects related to Dalí’s artistic activity; and the outdoor areas, the olive grove and the courtyards (Rooms 14–20), intended for public life and more fleeting creative activity.
