A children’s workshop as part of the activities accompanying the exhibition Dalí and Optical Illusions, at the Dalí Theatre-Museum

How do we know that what we are seeing is a body? Can we have four arms, incredibly long legs, or make part of our body disappear?
The artist Macarena Recuerda Shepherd invites children and adults to explore her research into Performative Illusionism and discover, through play, how our gaze constructs what we see.
Through simple perceptual games, we will use our own bodies to create impossible images: bodies that are too large or strangely small, bodies that multiply their limbs, make them disappear, or invent new shapes.
Costumes and textile materials will play an important role in the game. Lycra fabrics will allow us to connect, conceal, distort and transform bodies to create new figures.
The workshop invites participants to explore perception through the body, imagination and collective play. The aim is not to learn magic tricks, but to discover something that happens constantly when we look: our brain selects, connects and completes what lies before us.
